Plastic pollution is a growing concern across the world, affecting both human health and the environment. In Cameroon, rivers and natural spaces are increasingly threatened by plastic waste, endangering aquatic life and polluting essential water sources. To address this challenge, CRISBY Foundation recently organized a sensitization and cleanup activity in the East Region of Cameroon, Bertoua, specifically around the banks of River Djadombe.
Raising Awareness on Plastic Pollution
With a commitment to environmental sustainability, CRISBY Foundation engaged with the young population in Bertoua to educate them on the dangers of plastic pollution. The activity, led by Mr. Ekwa Randy and volunteer Miss Jacqueline, focused on explaining how plastic waste impacts water bodies, wildlife, and overall public health. The session highlighted the importance of proper plastic waste disposal, and adopting eco-friendly habits to preserve the environment.
Taking Action: A Community Cleanup
Beyond raising awareness, the initiative included a practical aspect—cleaning up the polluted riverbanks of Djadombe. Young volunteers actively participated in collecting plastic waste and other debris, demonstrating their commitment to protecting their surroundings. This hands-on experience not only helped improve the environment but also inspired participants to take responsibility for their community’s cleanliness.
